Ein Umlauf pro Flanke, dann fünf Minuten Ruhe

Der Reifen kommt sauber und trocken unter die Dose. Nach der Wäsche heißt das: Räder abledern oder rund 10 Minuten abtropfen lassen. Auf feuchtem Gummi schwimmt der Film auf und trocknet fleckig. Sitzt auf der Flanke noch alter Reifenbelag oder Bremsstaub, läuft vorher ein Reifenreiniger darüber, sonst haftet der neue Film auf dem alten Belag statt auf dem Gummi.

Dose kräftig schütteln, dann aus 10 bis 15 cm Abstand gleichmäßig auf die Flanke sprühen. Ein Umlauf reicht. Rechne mit knapp 11 ml pro Reifen, das sind rund 35 Reifen aus einer 400-ml-Dose. Wer den Sprühnebel ganz vermeiden will, sprüht auf einen alten Applikator oder ein gefaltetes Stück Küchenrolle und zieht damit um die Flanke — das ist sauberer und gleichmäßiger als freihändig.

Alles, was auf Lauffläche, Felge oder Radhausschale gelangt ist, wird sofort mit einem weichen Tuch abgerieben. Nicht später, sondern bevor es antrocknet. Auf der Aufstandsfläche hat ein glatter Pflegefilm nichts verloren, und auf Bremsscheibe und Belag erst recht nicht.

Danach 5 Minuten stehen lassen, bevor der Wagen bewegt wird. In dieser Zeit zieht das Lösemittel ab und der Film wird grifffest. Fährst du sofort los, schleudert der Überschuss durch die Radrotation auf Schweller, Radlauf und Heck. Bei zweiwöchentlicher Wäsche legst du nach jeder zweiten Runde nach, dann bleibt die Flanke gleichmäßig dunkel.

Hinweise: Steht der Reifen in der Sonne und ist handwarm, zieht das Lösemittel zu schnell ab und der Film wird streifig; dann besser in den Schatten rangieren. Der Glanz übersteht nach Herstellerangabe viele Regenfahrten und rund zwei bis drei Waschanlagen — plane ihn als wiederkehrenden Schritt ein, nicht als Dauerschutz. Das Ausblühen der Ozonschutzmittel stoppt er nicht, die graubraune Flanke kommt zurück, sobald der Film weg ist. Profiltiefe, Reifenalter und Luftdruck ersetzt keine Pflege. Die Dose kühl und schattig lagern und nicht im aufgeheizten Sommer-Kofferraum liegen lassen.
