What is the ZviZZer Thermo Allrounder Pad Ultra Soft? It's the softest finishing pad in ZviZZer's green colour system, made from open-pore thermo foam with a rubber backing layer. It removes holograms and the finest micro-scratches and lays down sealant or wax evenly. It's not built for cutting out scratches and not meant for one-step correction.
The ZviZZer Thermo Allrounder Pad Ultra Soft is a thermo foam pad from ZviZZer in the softest grade, green. On this Ultra Soft pad an open-pore polishing foam sits on a sealed cushion made of a foam-rubber blend that dampens vibration and carries the rotational force onto the paint without losing any of it. That's how it builds gloss without setting fresh holograms, and spreads sealant or wax streak-free.
Detailing1's tip from the shop: What we see day-to-day, the most common mistake with an ultra-soft pad is dry scrubbing at too high a speed. With no film of polish, the open-pore foam rubs on the paint, builds up heat and sets exactly the holograms it's supposed to remove — we reproduced that in a test on soft black paint. Keep the pad damp, work at a moderate speed and tap it out every two or three sections. A clean, lightly dampened pad finishes better than a clogged one.
You work the Ultra Soft pad with a pea-sized blob of finishing polish at a moderate speed until the polish film goes clear and the mirror gloss stands.
By colour and grade it pairs with the green UC 1000 finishing polish, which pulls out the finest swirls and seals in the same pass. Step up one grade of bite with the yellow soft pad when there are still visible holograms after a cutting step. Work in sections of about 40 by 40 centimetres.
Keep the pad clean: after two or three sections, tap out the polish dust or switch to a fresh pad. A clogged pad just smears and won't build any more gloss. You can clean it with a brush, compressed air or in the wash at 30 to 40 degrees — then air-dry it, never in the dryer.
The Ultra Soft pad is built for the last step — holograms gone, gloss in, coating laid down evenly. It deliberately doesn't correct, because the soft grade soaks up the cutting power of any polish.
That's exactly its strength when jewelling dark, soft paint and when machine-applying coatings, where a harder pad would drag streaks. Over the rubber backing layer it runs smooth enough that even beginners can pull off a clean mirror.
The limits are clear: when there are scratches or swirls in the paint, reach first for a harder pad from the polishing pad category with a cutting or one-step polish, and only then bring in the Ultra Soft pad as the finish. If you want to correct and shine in a single pass, the medium-hard orange pad is the better call — on the green pad the correction just won't happen.
The Ultra Soft pad is the right call when you want that last percent of depth after correction, or when you need to lay a coating down mirror-smooth.
It's less suited to the quick reconditioner who wants to be done in one pass: with no cut, every defect stays visible. If you regularly work from scratch all the way to a mirror, you're better off with the graded ZviZZer pad system from Ultra Hard to Ultra Soft than with a single pad — each colour a hardness, each hardness a job.
The one trick no manufacturer writes down: wash a new pad out once and squeeze it dry before you start. Otherwise factory residue in the fresh foam spreads through the first layer and leaves a fine haze on exactly the dark paint the Ultra Soft pad is meant to make shine.
Not sure about ZviZZer Thermo Allrounder Pad "Ultra Soft" Thermo Foam Pad (Green)? Get it explained:
The Ultra Soft Pad is the softest finishing foam pad in the green ZviZZer color system. An open-cell thermo-polishing foam sits on a rubber backing layer that absorbs vibrations. It removes holograms and the finest micro-scratches and applies sealant or wax streak-free without creating defects itself.
For finishing and wax or coating application, not for correction. A soft pad absorbs the abrasive power of the polish. It matches the green Finish Polish UC 1000. If holograms remain after a sanding step, the yellow Soft Pad is one level more aggressive.
Both use the same open-cell thermo-foam, but only the Allrounder Pad has an additional rubber backing layer between the Velcro and the foam. It reduces vibration and keeps the contact pressure uniform, making the run on large surfaces smoother and the finish more homogeneous.
For all paints, especially soft and dark ones where holograms become visible quickly. The pad runs on random orbital and rotary polishers and attaches via Velcro to the corresponding backing plate. Sizes range from Ø 50 mm for body contours to Ø 165 mm for roofs and doors.
Most common mistake: dry scrubbing at high speed. Without a polish film, the open-cell foam rubs, builds up heat, and creates new holograms, especially on soft black paint. Keep the pad damp, use moderate speed, and brush it out after two to three sections. A clogged pad smears and does not build gloss.
Clean with a brush, compressed air, or in the wash at 30 to 40 degrees, then air dry; never use the dryer. The milled edges extend the service life. A pad lasts for many detailing jobs; as long as the foam is not tearing or permanently matted, it is fine – otherwise, replace it.
The Ultra Soft Pad is used after correction. The paint should be clean and degreased so that no polishing oil masks the true shine and residue does not cause streaking.
Apply a pea-sized amount of finishing polish to the slightly moistened pad, distribute over the surface at a moderate speed without pressure, and work until the polish film becomes clear and a deep mirror finish is achieved. The green UC 1000 Finish Polish is a perfect match in terms of color and grade.
Work in sections of approximately 40 by 40 centimeters and tap out or change the pad after every two to three sections. If visible holograms remain after a sanding step, pre-work one grade more aggressively with the yellow Soft Pad and finish with the Ultra Soft Pad.
To seal, apply a pea-sized amount of coating or wax and spread thinly and evenly with the soft foam. This is exactly where the pad shows its strength, as a harder pad would smear the sealant.
Notes: The Ultra Soft Pad does not remove anything and does not correct scratches or swirls; a harder pad from the polishing pad category with a cutting or one-step polish is required for that. Never scrub dry, otherwise the open-pore foam will accumulate heat and create new holograms. Clean with a brush, compressed air, or wash at 30 to 40 degrees, then air dry; do not tumble dry. Store in a dry and clean place; replace a torn or permanently clogged pad.
