What do I use BodyGuard for on board? — This marine spray sealant lays down a hydrophobic, even protective film on gelcoat and glossy painted surfaces in minutes, visibly cuts how hard salt clings, adds slickness and makes the next wash quicker – as a drying aid or on a dry surface.

THE FINISHER BodyGuard Spray Sealant is your fast protection-and-slickness step after the wash. On smooth gelcoat and high-gloss marine-painted panels it builds a thin, even layer of protection: water sheets off cleanly, salt and spray cling less, and the surface feels „dry-slick“. Ideal as a drying aid straight after CleanMarine, or as a quick finish on a dry surface. Keep it off non-skid, teak, vinyl or plastic windows – those stay the job of dedicated deck and material products.

Spray sealant for your boat – hydrophobicity, slickness & salt resistance

A spray sealant on gelcoat needs two things: thin polymers that sit flat and evenly, and a controlled flash-off. BodyGuard builds exactly that kind of film: it smooths out the micro-texture, gets water beading off cleanly and cuts how much salt, spray and harbour film grab the surface. The result isn’t „oily“, it’s dry and quiet – perfect when you want a clear, easy-to-rinse surface again fast after a sail. Because the layer is fine, the reflection stays crisp; at the same time dirt walks off quicker when you rinse, which takes the load off your care intervals.

Use on board – drying aid or dry finish

Always apply in the shade on a cool surface. After the CleanMarine wash, rinse down generously with fresh water. Drying aid: 1–2 spritzes per section onto the wet panel or into the drying towel, pull off the water, then go over it streak-free with a fresh microfibre side. Dry finish: use two towels (one to spread, one to buff off) and work panel by panel without pressure. Take off any excess straight away, never let the product dry on. No-go: non-skid decks, teak, vinyl upholstery, polycarbonate/acrylic windows – they end up slippery or smeary. Give fittings and edges a quick dry wipe after any contact.

Care plan & compatibility – pairing with WaxPolish/PerfectOne

The care plan: after the main wash with CleanMarine, BodyGuard sets the everyday protection tone for the hull and smooth deck areas. You can run BodyGuard on its own, or lay it over an optical finish: PerfectOne (one-step on gelcoat) → BodyGuard for hydrophobicity; or WaxPolish for classic deep gloss → BodyGuard later as a quick hydrophobicity booster. Depending on sun, salt and time in the water, top it up in minutes every few weeks. When the beading starts to fade: wash, lay a thin coat back on – no thick layers, no „gunking it up“.

Which surfaces is it for?

On smooth gelcoat, high-gloss marine paint and smooth plastics. Not on non-skid, teak, vinyl or plastic windows.

Drying aid or dry – which is better?

Both work. As a drying aid it cuts friction while you dry off; dry application gets you the „quietest“ finish. Decide by your time and the look you’re after.

Does BodyGuard play nicely with WaxPolish?

Yes. Top BodyGuard over WaxPolish later on to boost the hydrophobicity without painting over the wax look.

How often should I top it up?

Every few weeks, depending on use. After salty legs or a long stretch in the water, just lay a thin coat back on after the wash.

Seal the windows & vinyl too?

No. Clean windows separately with SeaYou, clean vinyl with VinylTexClean and protect it with VinylGuard. That keeps the feel and look right for each material.
