COLOURLOCK Nubuk Fresh for Land Rover: Specialized Suede and Velour Leather Care

What is COLOURLOCK Nubuk Fresh for Land Rover? — This specialized suede and nubuck care maintains the texture and color of rough natural leathers in Land Rover interiors — specifically developed for velour, nubuck, and Alcantara.

COLOURLOCK Nubuk Fresh (Land Rover) is a special care dye for rough-textured suede, nubuck, and velour surfaces in Land Rover leather interiors. Unlike Leather Colour or Leather Fresh, Nubuk Fresh is not intended for smooth pigment leather — the formulation is designed to preserve the fine fiber structure of suede and prevent matting.

• Suede-specific – Specially formulated for rough-textured natural leathers.
• Maintains Velour appearance – Prevents matting or smoothing of the fibers.
• Original Land Rover color shades – Factory-matched pigmentation for seamless care.

💡 Practical tip from Detailing1 workshop: We often see the same user error with Land Rover suede seats — customers treat the suede with normal smooth leather care, which then mats the fibers and makes them look flattened. With Nubuk Fresh (Land Rover) and a fine brass brush in a 5-minute care routine, the typical velour look is maintained. After drying, lightly brush again — and the fibers will stand up softly.

Dry brush, spray, work in the direction of the fibers

Nubuk Fresh (Land Rover) is sprayed evenly onto the suede from a distance of 20–30 cm with a spray bottle and worked in with a soft brush in the direction of the fibers. After drying, brush again for the typical velour look.

Before care, the suede is dry brushed with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush to remove dust and ingrained dirt. Then, it is wet cleaned with a special suede cleaner and allowed to dry completely. Only then is Nubuk Fresh (Land Rover) sprayed from a distance of 20–30 cm — no puddle formation, distribute immediately.

The color is worked in with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush in the direction of the fibers until the pigmentation is evenly distributed. After 30–45 minutes of drying, the leather is lightly re-brushed so that the fibers stand up and the typical velvety-matte velour appearance is created. A 250 ml bottle is sufficient for approximately 4–5 care applications on mid-range vehicles with Alcantara steering wheels and suede seats.

Suede and velour yes, smooth leather no

Nubuk Fresh (Land Rover) is exclusively for rough-textured natural leathers — suede, nubuck, velour, and Alcantara. Pigmented Land Rover smooth leathers are treated with Leather Colour or Leather Fresh.

The special carrier solution with finely pigmented dyes combines with the rough fiber structure without matting or weighing it down. On smooth pigmented leather, Nubuk Fresh would adhere unevenly as the typical fiber structure is missing — the care would appear patchy instead of even. On aniline leather, the fiber would not be sufficiently protected; here, aniline-specific COLOURLOCK lines are needed.

If the Land Rover vehicle has genuine suede seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, or velour door panels, Nubuk Fresh is the only correct care. If, however, the interior consists of pigmented smooth leather, then Leather Fresh (Land Rover) or Leather Colour (Land Rover) are used. For mixed equipment (suede seats, smooth leather doors), both products are used in parallel.

For suede seats and Alcantara steering wheels

Nubuk Fresh (Land Rover) is the care solution for owners and detailers with genuine suede or Alcantara components — applied every 6–12 months, it keeps the leather permanently soft and color-stable.

Suede and velour leather get dirty faster than smooth leather and fade more under UV light. The care routine every 6–12 months prevents deep penetration of dirt and protects the fibers from permanent fading. For heavily used vehicles or family cars, a 3-month cycle is also worthwhile. One application takes about 45 minutes per pair of seats including brushing and drying — material costs per application are around 6 euros.

For pigmented smooth leather components in the same vehicle, Leather Fresh (Land Rover) is used — both products complement each other in the workflow. Anyone looking for a complete care bundle for suede and smooth leather can also check out the Leather Care Set (Land Rover), which contains both components.

Care instructions for suede (Land Rover):

Nubuk Fresh (Land Rover) is exclusively for rough-textured natural leather – suede, nubuck, velour, and Alcantara. Pigmented Land Rover smooth leather is treated with Leather Colour or Leather Fresh.

The special carrier solution with finely pigmented dyes bonds with the rough fiber structure without sticking or weighing it down. On smooth pigmented leather, Nubuk Fresh would adhere unevenly because the typical fiber structure is missing – the care would appear spotty rather than even. On aniline leather, the fiber would not be sufficiently protected; here, aniline-specific COLOURLOCK lines are needed.

If the Land Rover vehicle has genuine suede seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, or velour door panels, Nubuk Fresh is the only correct care product. If the interior, however, consists of pigmented smooth leather, Leather Fresh (Land Rover) or Leather Colour (Land Rover) should be used. For mixed equipment (suede seats, smooth leather doors), both products are used in parallel.
