What are GYEON Polishing Pads? GYEON Polishing Pads are foam and microfiber pads, designed for the Q²M Polishing System, for dual-action and rotary machines, which, depending on the type, produce precise cutting performance or maximum high gloss.
GYEON Polishing Pads are not just foam discs – they are the crucial performance enhancer between polish and paint. GYEON has consistently aligned its pad range with its own Q²M polish range: every foam hardness, every pore structure, and every material thickness is designed to achieve the best result with a specific polish. The range includes pads for DA machines (eccentric pads) and rotary machines (rotary pads), each from cut to finish – a complete system for professional paint correction.
Practical Tip from Detailing1: Regularly clean your GYEON Polishing Pads during work with a pad cleaning puck or pad washer. A pad saturated with residue significantly loses cutting performance – and carries the residue to the next polishing surface. After use, we recommend soaking in warm water with a little shampoo, gently squeezing out, and letting them dry flat.
The effectiveness of a polishing pad depends on its cell structure. Closed, dense foam matrices in Cut Pads create high local pressure and powerfully transfer abrasive particles to the paint. Open-pore, softer structures in Finishing Pads distribute the polish more widely, absorb abrasive residue, and leave a micro-scratch-free surface. In between are Medium Pads, which balance both. GYEON complements the portfolio with microfiber pads for maximum aggressive cutting performance with a smooth finish – ideal for clear coats with deep scratches where multi-stage correction takes time. The choice of the right pad is therefore always a question of the damage and the desired correction duration.
Before first use, a new GYEON Polishing Pad should be moistened and squeezed out – this activates the pore structure and prevents dry foam from immediately absorbing the polish instead of transferring it to the paint. Always spread polish on the pad, not directly on the paint surface – this allows for controlled dosage. For multiple passes between different pads, always wipe the work surface with a clean microfiber cloth to remove residues from the previous polish. For cleaning between vehicles, we recommend the GYEON Q²M Padwasher.
GYEON Cut Pads are used for heavy oxidation, deep isolated or swirl scratches, and paint overspray – wherever maximum cutting performance is required. Medium Pads are the all-rounders: they are suitable for daily detailing with swirl marks, holograms after washing, and as a transition pad after an aggressive cut pass. Finishing Pads complete the correction – they refine the result after the medium pass and prepare the paint for a ceramic coating or spray sealant. Microfiber cutting pads are reserved for professionals with rotary machines for extreme correction cases.
The main difference lies in system compatibility. GYEON Polishing Pads are calibrated in hardness and pore structure to Q²M Compound, Polish, and Primer. Inexpensive accessory pads can perform similar functions but require more experience in dosing and combining. If you already use another pad system and are satisfied, you don't need to switch – but anyone building a new GYEON Q²M system will benefit from the well-thought-out system compatibility. In the long run, this saves material and rework.
For getting started with machine paint correction, we recommend a starter set with one Cut, one Medium, and one Finish Pad each – this allows you to cover every correction depth. Professionals expand their set according to vehicle requirements and keep several pads per type available to be able to switch without interruption during work. As an addition, we recommend the matching GYEON Q²M Paint Polishes as well as Eccentric Pads for DA machines and Rotary Pads for high-performance rotation.
