Leather repair paint for Saab / spot repair 20 ml

The highly pigmented repair dye in a 20 ml tube is ideal for precise damage repair on Saab leather – without the need for elaborate spray equipment.

Clean the damaged area, degrease it, smooth it with filler if necessary, and sand it with 1000-grit sanding fleece. Apply Fluid Leather (Saab) to a soft brush or sponge and dab it precisely onto the repair area — in 1–2 thin layers crosswise, allowing 20–30 minutes drying time between layers. After 4 hours, seal with Top Coat. The 20ml tube is sufficient for 5–8 steering wheel repairs.

COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather for Saab: precise spot repair in a 20 ml tube

What is COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather for Saab? — The highly pigmented repair dye in a 20 ml tube is ideal for precise damage repair on Saab leather — without the need for elaborate spray equipment.

COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather (Saab) is a liquid, highly pigmented leather repair dye in a 20 ml tube — specially developed for the precise repair of small damaged areas such as cracks, scratches and color abrasion on Saab leather interiors. The color is based on original Saab color samples and can be applied precisely with a brush or sponge.

  • 20 ml tube for spot repairs – Precisely dispensable, no spray equipment necessary.
  • Original Saab color shades – Factory-matched pigmentation for invisible repairs.
  • High opacity – One application is usually sufficient — even on dark leathers.

💡 Detailing1 Workshop Tip: We use Fluid Leather (Saab) in the workshop for steering wheel repairs — classic 12 o'clock abrasion. One tube is enough for 5–8 steering wheel repairs. Apply with a soft-bristled brush, dabbing criss-cross, let dry for 30 minutes between coats, apply Top Coat Dull — the result is indistinguishable from new.

Degrease the damaged area, dab on precisely, seal with Top Coat

Fluid Leather (Saab) is applied directly from the 20 ml tube onto a soft brush or sponge and dabbed criss-cross onto the repair area in 1–2 thin layers. Allow 20–30 minutes to dry between coats, then seal with Top Coat.

Before repair, the damaged area is cleaned with leather cleaner and degreased with Plastic Cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Deeper cracks are pre-filled with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit abrasive fleece. The highly pigmented Fluid Leather (Saab) solution is then dabbed precisely onto the prepared area — applying criss-cross in thin layers provides better coverage than one thick application.

After complete drying for about 4 hours, seal with Top Coat Dull or Glossy to make the repair abrasion-resistant. A 20 ml tube is sufficient for 5–8 steering wheel repairs or about 15 localized crack repairs. Workshop costs per repair are around 10 Euros, and a complete steering wheel restoration takes approx. 3 hours including drying.

Spot repair yes, large areas no

Fluid Leather (Saab) is the special solution for spot repairs — individual cracks, scratches or smaller abrasions up to about 5x5 cm. Large-area repairs require Leather Colour in 250 ml or 1 liter containers.

The high pigmentation and the tube form make Fluid Leather extremely economical and precise — even on dark leathers, one coat is often sufficient for full coverage. However, for repairs larger than 5x5 cm or entire seat bolsters, the tube content would not be enough, and dabbing by hand would be uneconomical. Suede and velour surfaces require Nubuk Fresh (Saab) anyway, as Fluid Leather would glue the rough structure.

If only 12 o'clock steering wheel abrasion or individual cracks are to be repaired, Fluid Leather is the most economical and precise choice. If entire seat groups, steering wheels or door panels are to be restored, it is worth switching to Leather Colour (Saab) or the Complete Repair Set (Saab) with all components.

For detailers with individual damaged areas

Fluid Leather (Saab) is the workshop solution for targeted spot repairs — for detailers, independent workshops and ambitious owners who want to precisely repair steering wheel abrasion or individual cracks.

In used car detailing, 12 o'clock steering wheel abrasion is a classic. A tube of Fluid Leather costs about 67 Euros and is sufficient for 5–8 steering wheel repairs — that's material costs of about 10 Euros per repair. With a brush and Top Coat, the total repair effort per steering wheel is 3 hours including drying. The result is indistinguishable from a new steering wheel after 2 weeks of use.

For pure care without damage, Fluid Leather is the wrong way — Leather Fresh (Saab) is sufficient there. For entire seat bolsters or complete components, it is worth switching to Leather Colour. However, anyone who wants to precisely repair individual damaged areas with OEM color accuracy has the most economical and precise tool from the COLOURLOCK range with the 20 ml tube.

Available Saab Colors (Selection)

Beige / Parchment / Sportbeige, Buffalo, Grey / Grey / Slate Grey, Sand Beige, Black / Obsidian Black / Schwar, Dark Pewter, Jetblack, Light Neutral, Parchment / Beige / Sportbeige, Colorado Red, Light Grey H33

What is COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather for Saab?

COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather (Saab) is a highly pigmented, liquid leather repair dye in a 20 ml tube. It is used for precise repair of small damaged areas on Saab leather – cracks, scratches, color abrasion.

How do I apply Fluid Leather (Saab)?

Clean and degrease the damaged area, level with filler and sand if necessary. Apply Fluid Leather directly from the tube onto a brush/sponge and dab precisely onto the repair area. Let dry, possibly apply a second coat, then seal with Top Coat.

What is the difference to Leather Colour?

Fluid Leather (Saab) has significantly higher pigmentation and comes in a 20 ml tube – perfect for spot repairs. Leather Colour is available in 250 ml or 1 liter and is sprayed/wiped for large-area applications. For a single crack → Fluid Leather, for an entire seat surface → Leather Colour.

Do I absolutely need Top Coat?

Yes – Fluid Leather has no sealant of its own. Without Top Coat, the repair will rub off in heavily used areas (seat bolster, steering wheel) within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull for an original matte look, Glossy for a slight sheen.

What are the most common mistakes we see?

Classics: (1) Damaged area not degreased – paint adheres poorly. (2) Too much material at once – then looks like a repair instead of original. (3) No Top Coat – repair comes off. With filler + sanding + thin application + Top Coat it lasts 2+ years.

Is a 20 ml tube enough for an entire steering wheel?

Probably not for a completely worn steering wheel – we would plan for 2 tubes. For classic 12 o'clock abrasion of 4–5 cm length, one tube is easily enough for 5–8 repairs.

Care instructions for leather repair dye (Saab):

The high pigmentation and tube form make Fluid Leather extremely economical and precise — even on dark leathers, one layer is often enough for complete coverage. However, for repairs larger than 5x5 cm or entire seat bolsters, the tube content would not be sufficient, and manual dabbing would be uneconomical. Suede and velour surfaces require Nubuck Fresh (Saab) anyway, as Fluid Leather would stick the rough texture together.

If only 12 o'clock steering wheel abrasion or individual cracks are to be repaired, Fluid Leather is the most economical and precise choice. If entire seating areas, steering wheels, or door panels are being restored, it is worth switching to Leather Colour (Saab) or the Complete Repair Set (Saab) with all components.
