GYEON Q²M Bathe washes without affecting coatings and waxes
What is GYEON Q²M Bathe? A pH-neutral car shampoo from the Q²M series that washes with strong foam formation and high lubrication without dissolving ceramic sealants, waxes, or wet sealants. Not suitable for baked-on insect residue, tar, or brake dust on paint — specialized cleaners are needed for that.
GYEON Bathe is a pH-neutral car shampoo from GYEON that removes road grime and loose dirt in a 1:500 dilution without chemically attacking the paint protection layer. GYEON Bathe is a maintenance shampoo for sealed vehicles — the pH value is 6, the formulation uses mild surfactants and produces a dense foam that can be generated both in a wash mitt and from a foam lance.
The high amount of foam is not just a visual effect but part of the cleaning principle. The foam keeps the loosened dirt suspended before it returns to the paint. The resulting slickness between the wash mitt and the paint significantly reduces micro-scratches compared to simple detergent formulations.
This is precisely the difference from cheap hardware store shampoos. There, the cleaning power is aggressive and, in addition to dirt, removes existing wax layers. With GYEON Bathe, the slipperiness gently cleans, and the existing coating or wax protection remains untouched.

- pH 6 — your coating and wax remain. The formulation is in the neutral range and does not dissolve ceramic sealants (e.g., GYEON MOHS), wet sealants, or hard waxes. You wash a sealed vehicle for the full lifespan of the coating without having to plan a shampoo change. With alkaline shampoos, hydrophobic performance measurably decreases after each wash — not with pH-neutral washing.
- High foam formation plus slickness. 15 to 20 ml in a 10-liter wash bucket produce a stable head of foam that lasts 20 to 30 minutes. More important than the appearance: the foam mechanically lifts dirt particles from the paint, and the resulting slickness reduces the coefficient of friction between the wash mitt and the clear coat. This is the measurable scratch protection in the two-bucket workflow.
- 1:500 dilution — 1 liter is enough for about 50 washes. With 15 to 20 ml per wash bucket, the 1-liter bottle provides between 50 and 66 complete vehicle washes — which, depending on the washing rhythm, is 0.45 to 0.60 Euros per wash. The 4-liter gallon further reduces the price per liter and pays off from the second vehicle or with a weekly wash rhythm over a season.
Practical tip from Detailing1: The most common mistake with GYEON Bathe is dosing by eye. Anyone who pours a "good portion" into the water quickly has 40 to 50 ml in the bucket and washes with double concentration. The foam doesn't get better, rinsing becomes tedious, and white residues remain on trim. Add 15 to 20 ml with a measuring cup to warm water at 30 to 40 °C. Warm water activates the surfactants faster and noticeably increases foam stability — the most important operating step not mentioned on the back of the bottle.
1:500 dilution. Warm water. Two-Bucket.
The GYEON Bathe is used in a 1:500 dilution — this corresponds to 15 to 20 milliliters per 10-liter wash bucket. First, pre-rinse the vehicle with clear water to wash away loose dust and sand before the wash mitt touches the paint. This step is the most important scratch protection before the actual wash — no shampoo in the world can compensate for embedded quartz dust.
Place warm water in the wash bucket, then pour in the Bathe — not the other way around, otherwise the dosage will bubble over and the concentration will increase uncontrollably. Wash panel by panel, from the roof down.
Between panels, rinse the wash mitt in a second bucket with clear water — this is the two-bucket workflow, which removes dirt from the mitt before it returns to the paint.
Bathe also works reliably in a foam lance, but it is not designed as a pure pre-wash foam. Expect a dilution of about 50 ml per 1 liter of lance mixture and allow the foam 3 to 5 minutes to dwell before rinsing.
Foaming directly in direct sunlight makes no sense — on hot paint, the foam layer dries in minutes and leaves water spots. Ideal conditions are outdoor temperatures between 10 and 20 °C or a shaded garage.
Finally, rinse thoroughly with clear water until no more foam runs off, and immediately dry with a soft drying towel. Air-dried vehicles get water spots from dissolved minerals — especially in regions with hard tap water, drying within 5 minutes after rinsing is mandatory, not a recommendation.

Bathe washes. Not insects and tar.
Bathe works reliably on regular road grime, dust, pollen, and salt residues — that is its core area. The pH-neutral formulation is explicitly designed for recurring washing, not for deep cleaning after three months of city driving without care. This is both its strength and its limitation.
Bathe does not reliably dissolve heavily baked-on insect residues, tar splashes, and tree sap. The neutral surfactants simply do not have the chemical aggressiveness to break down chitin or bitumen.
If you have insects on the bonnet, use a specialized insect remover like Q²M Bug&Grime as a pre-wash step. First, dissolve alkaline, let it soak, rinse, then perform the complete wash with GYEON Bathe.
Bathe is also powerless against baked-on brake dust on paint surfaces (after parking at railway tracks or construction sites) — a rust remover like GYEON Q²M Iron is needed there. The same applies to water spots from hard tap water: Bathe washes over them but does not remove them. Expectation management is crucial here — this is a weekly maintenance shampoo, not a decontamination tool.
To distinguish it from its big brother Q²M Bathe+: Bathe+ additionally contains SiO₂ and applies a hydrophobic protective layer with each wash that lasts about 6 to 8 weeks.
If you want to regularly wash a freshly sealed vehicle without additional boosting, the regular GYEON Bathe is sufficient. If you don't have a coating and still want beading behavior and light additional protection, Bathe+ is the better choice. Both are pH-neutral and coating-safe — the decision depends on the desired side effect, not on cleaning performance.

For coating owners who wash weekly.
Bathe is the right choice for anyone who has a ceramic coating or a durable hard wax on their paint and does not want to compromise the protection over its full lifespan. No exceptions, no discussions — an alkaline shampoo measurably attacks any coating in just a few washes. So, if you've invested in GYEON MOHS, Q² One, or a hard wax, wash with pH-neutral. This is not a recommendation; it's a technical prerequisite.
For infrequent washers (once a month or less), Bathe is solid but not essential. Those who wash infrequently usually have heavier soiling per wash and are better off with an alkaline pre-wash plus a neutral main shampoo. Then Bathe becomes the second step of a two-stage process — useful, but it doesn't replace a dedicated deep-cleaning shampoo like Q²M RestartWash.
In Detailing1's workshop practice, we work Bathe in conjunction with a soft microfiber drying towel and a solid wash mitt. This is the complete care workflow for coating-protected vehicles — pre-rinse, foam lance, two-bucket hand wash, rinse thoroughly, dry within 5 minutes. Under 25 minutes per vehicle, weekly.
Regarding container size: The 500ml bottle is the compact test entry for about 25 to 33 washes — ideal for checking scent and foam formation. The 1-liter bottle is the standard size for a household and lasts almost 12 months with weekly washing. The 4-liter gallon pays off for multi-vehicle households or commercial use and significantly lowers the price per liter.
Store frost-free and use within 12 months of opening — after that, foam stability noticeably decreases. The most important difference between GYEON Bathe and cheap shampoos ultimately remains simple: You wash your vehicle 50 times with one bottle, and your coating survives all 50 washes undamaged.

Frequently Asked Questions about GYEON Q²M Bathe
What is GYEON Q²M Bathe?
GYEON Q²M Bathe is a pH-neutral car shampoo from the Q²M series with a pH of 6. The mild surfactants dissolve road grime without attacking ceramic coatings, wet sealants, or hard waxes. It is characterized by high foam formation and additional slickness, which significantly reduces micro-scratches during washing.
How do I use GYEON Bathe correctly?
Add 15 to 20 milliliters to 10 liters of warm water (30 to 40 °C) — this corresponds to 1:500. First rinse the vehicle with clear water, then wash panel by panel from top to bottom using the two-bucket workflow. Rinse thoroughly with clear water and dry within 5 minutes with a soft microfiber towel.
What is the difference between Bathe and Bathe+?
The regular Bathe is a classic pH-neutral car shampoo without a sealant component. Bathe+ additionally contains SiO₂ and applies a hydrophobic protective layer with every wash, which lasts for about 6 to 8 weeks. If you already have a coating, the regular Bathe is sufficient. Without a coating and if you want a beading effect, Bathe+ is the better choice.
Is Bathe suitable for ceramic coatings?
Yes. The pH of 6 and the mild surfactants do not attack GYEON MOHS, Q² One, Syncro, or other ceramic coatings. Wet sealants and hard waxes also remain unaffected. An alkaline shampoo would measurably attack any of these protective layers in a few washes — the pH-neutral Bathe is a technical prerequisite, not a recommendation, for coating-protected vehicles.
What happens if I over-dose Bathe?
Those who dose by eye quickly end up with 40 to 50 milliliters per bucket — i.e., double the concentration. This does not make the foam cleaner, but rinsing becomes tedious, and white residues remain on trim strips and panel gaps. Additionally, the slickness decreases, which reduces scratch protection. Always dose with a measuring cup: 15 to 20 ml per 10 liters of warm water.
How many washes does one bottle last?
The 500 ml bottle, with 15 to 20 ml per wash, is sufficient for 25 to 33 complete vehicle washes. The 1-liter bottle yields 50 to 66 washes and is the standard size for a household. The 4-liter gallon provides about 200 to 266 washes and pays off from the second vehicle or in continuous commercial use due to the lower liter price.
Application of GYEON Q²M Bathe
From pre-rinse to drying in under 25 minutes
First, completely rinse the vehicle with clear water – before the wash mitt touches the paint. Loose dust and sand must be removed, otherwise they will rub like sandpaper over the clear coat during washing. This step is the most important scratch protection of the entire wash and cannot be replaced by any shampoo.
In the wash bucket, add 10 liters of warm water between 30 and 40 °C, then add 15 to 20 ml of Bathe using a measuring cup – not the other way around, otherwise it will foam over and the concentration will increase uncontrollably. Warm water activates the surfactants faster and noticeably increases foam stability. For a foam lance, a sensible dilution is about 50 ml per 1 liter of lance mixture with an application time of 3 to 5 minutes.
Wash panel by panel from top to bottom. First, dip the wash mitt into bucket 1, wash the panel, rinse the mitt in bucket 2 with clear water, and only then return to bucket 1 – this is the two-bucket workflow, which removes dissolved dirt from the mitt before it returns to the paint.
After washing, completely rinse the vehicle from top to bottom with a strong jet of water until no more foam runs off. Pay attention to trim strips, panel gaps, and wheel arches. Within 5 minutes, dry with a soft microfiber drying towel – air-dried vehicles will get water spots due to dissolved minerals in tap water.
Notes: Do not use in direct sunlight or on hot paint – the foam layer will dry in minutes and leave water spots. Ideal outside temperatures are between 10 and 20 °C or a shady garage. For baked-on insect residues or tar, use a specialized insect remover such as Q²M Bug&Grime beforehand – Bathe alone does not dissolve chitin and bitumen. Store frost-free between 5 and 30 °C, protected from heat and direct sunlight. Use within 12 months after opening, after which foam stability noticeably decreases.
